Did you ever wonder why there were 10 plagues? I asked The Lord that question. This is what He showed me. 

There were 10 major gods and goddesses the Egyptians worshipped back then.

 

Since The Lord created the universe and everything in it. Well, I think He was slightly miffed! He is the Famous One. He is the true God! He is Jehovah! He is El Elyon Possessor of heaven and earth!

He shows His great power, and basically says, Have no other gods before Me

The first time Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh after they said a thus says The Lord.

 

Exodus 5:1; Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, Let My people go, that they may hold a feast to Me in the wilderness.

2 But Pharaoh said, Who is the Lord, that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I know not the Lord, neither will I let Israel go.

Well, he was about to find out , exactly who The Lord was! and those false gods and goddesses were about to be judged as false by the hand of The Lord of the universe.

 

Did you know, that each plague was to go against the 10 gods and goddesses of Egypt?

 

When Aaron and Moses went before Pharaoh . God was already going to show His authority. Check out what happened ,this is Exodus7:5-12

 

(The rod is a representation of authority.) The occultists of that day did similar, when Aaron threw down the rod and it became a serpent. Theirs did also, but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods. This is the start of God showing exactly who He is! That He is God and there is no other.

5 The Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord when I stretch forth My hand upon Egypt and bring out the Israelites from among them.

6 And Moses and Aaron did so, as the Lord commanded them. 7 Now Moses was 80 years old and Aaron 83 years old when they spoke to Pharaoh.8 And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron,

9 When Pharaoh says to you, Prove [your authority] by a miracle, then tell Aaron, Throw your rod down before Pharaoh, that it may become a serpent.10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did as the Lord had commanded; Aaron threw down his rod before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a serpent.

11Then Pharaoh called for the wise men [skilled in magic and divination] and the sorcerers (wizards and jugglers). And they also, these magicians of Egypt, did similar things with their enchantments and secret arts.12 For they cast down every man his rod and they became serpents; but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.

 

The First Plague was the water turning to blood; Ex 7:17; Thus says the Lord, In this you shall know, recognize, and understand that I am the Lord: behold, I will smite with the rod in my hand the waters in the [Nile] River, and they shall be turned to blood.

18 The fish in the river shall die, the river shall become foul smelling, and the Egyptians shall loathe to drink from it.

19 And the Lord said to Moses, Say to Aaron, Take your rod and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their streams, rivers, pools, and ponds of water, that they may become blood; and there shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, in containers both of wood and of stone. Well. thing is. the occultists of the day could do similar;22But the magicians of Egypt did the same by their enchantments and secret arts; and Pharaoh's heart was made hard and obstinate, and he did not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said.

Seven days had passed after The Lord, had struck the Nile.

They had a god named Hapi. He was considered to be god of the Nile. This god was a water bearer, this was the judgement against this god.

The second plague was the frogs: This was against , Heket- Egyptian Goddess of Fertility, Water, Renewal

Heket the Egyptian Goddess, had the head of a frog. Egyptian Plague- Frogs coming from the Nile River

 

Still, Pharaoh refused to let the children of Israel go .

The second plague from the "rod" by Aaron was frogs. The frogs came up from the river and were in their houses, in their food, in their clothing, they were everywhere!. No one in Egypt escaped the plague of frogs. Pharaoh's magicians were able to bring more frogs in their attempt to imitate the power of God, but only Moses was able to make the frogs go away. This was a judgement against this Egyptian Goddess, Heket. Again in Ex 8:3; the magicians could also conjure up frogs. But you know what? They couldn't take them away! In vs 4, Pharaoh actually says, Pray The Lord to remove the frogs. The occultists could not remove them. Moses says There is none like The Lord God! ( p.s, we love You, Lord! We know that's true! ) Well, as soon as Pharaoh saw the frogs were gone, he decided He was not going to listen.

Plague  Number 3, The Gnats, ( or lice):The Egyptian god Geb, was over the dust of the earth.

This is Exodus 8:12-15.

At the command of the Lord to Moses, Aaron was told to stretch forth his rod and smite the dust of the earth. When he did, the dust became gnats throughout all the land, upon man and beast. Interesting!!. Aaron struck the dust of the earth, with the rod! As we see, that god Geb, was dust! and the magicians could not bring forth gnats. They told Pharaoh- "this is the finger of God. Whoa! The Lord just blew away this god of the dust.

Plague Number 4, the flies: Ex 8 This judgement is against this god, Kephri. Yikes , they said he was the god of creation?

and the movement of the Sun, and rebirth. How insulting is that? This icky thing had the head of a fly. How insulting to our amazing God! The Creator of heaven and earth!

 

With the fourth Egyptian plague, which consisted of flies.

Here begins our Spiritual Goshen. Thus says the LORD, "Let My people go, that they may serve Me. "For if you do not let My people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies on you and on your servants and on your people and into your houses; and the houses of the Egyptians will be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground on which they dwell. * "But on that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, where My people are living, so that no swarms of flies will be there, in order that you may know that I, the LORD, am in the midst of the land. "I will put a division between My people and your people. Tomorrow this sign will occur*.""' Then the LORD did so. And there came great swarms of flies into the house of Pharaoh and the houses of his servants and the land was laid waste because of the swarms of flies in all the land of Egypt. (The name Goshen means, drawing near.) The name Israel means "God prevails"

 

The Fifth Plague was pestilence. Exodus 9 This was a judgement against Hathor-Egyptian goddess of Love and Protection This despicable thing had the head of a cow..

Egyptian Cattle Die

1 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh and speak to him, `Thus says the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, "Let My people go, that they may serve Me. 2 "For if you refuse to let them go and continue to hold them, 3 behold, the hand of the LORD will come with a very severe pestilence on your livestock which are in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the herds, and on the flocks. 4 "But the LORD will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt, so that nothing will die of all that belongs to the sons of Israel.""' 5 The LORD set a definite time, saying, "Tomorrow the LORD will do this thing in the land." 6 So the LORD did this thing on the next day, and all the livestock of Egypt died; but of the livestock of the sons of Israel, not one died. 7 Pharaoh sent, and behold, there was not even one of the livestock of Israel dead. But the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go

The Sixth Plague, Boils. This was a judgement against the goddess of medicine and peace, Isis.

Our Lord Jesus Christ paid with His life, so we could experience healing. He carried our sicknesses and diseases. In the Old Testament. He says, I AM The Lord, that heals you. I heal all your diseases. Jesus, is our peace! In Him we live and move, and have our being.

8 Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Take for yourselves handfuls of soot from a kiln, and let Moses throw it toward the sky in the sight of Pharaoh. 9 "It will become fine dust over all the land of Egypt, and will become boils breaking out with sores on man and beast through all the land of Egypt." 10 So they took soot from a kiln, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses threw it toward the sky, and it became boils breaking out with sores on man and beast. 11 The magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils were on the magicians as well as on all the Egyptians. 12 And the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not listen to them, just as the LORD had spoken to Moses.

The Seventh Plague, Hail. this was against the goddess of the sky, Nut.

22 Now the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that hail may fall on all the land of Egypt, on man and on beast and on every plant of the field, throughout the land of Egypt." 23 Moses stretched out his staff toward the sky, and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and fire ran down to the earth. And the LORD rained hail on the land of Egypt. 24 So there was hail, and fire flashing continually in the midst of the hail, very severe, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. 25 The hail struck all that was in the field through all the land of Egypt, both man and beast; the hail also struck every plant of the field and shattered every tree of the field. 26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the sons of Israel were, there was no hail.

 

27 Then Pharaoh sent for Moses and Aaron, and said to them, "I have sinned this time; the LORD is the righteous one, and I and my people are the wicked ones. 28 "Make supplication to the LORD, for there has been enough of God's thunder and hail; and I will let you go, and you shall stay no longer You see, now, God is differentiating between the Egyptians And His children.

The eighth Plague Is Locusts. This was a judgement against Seth, the god of storms and disorder. The locusts were sent from the sky.

The Ninth Plague Was Darkness. This was a judgement against the god Ra , the sun god.

Exodus 10:21; Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even a darkness which may be felt." 22 So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days. 23 They did not see one another, nor did anyone rise from his place for three days, but all the sons of Israel had light in their dwellings. The lights were on in Goshen!

The Tenth Plague. Pharaoh was the ultimate power in Egypt. They were worshipped by the Egyptians. They were considered to be the son of Ra, manifest in the flesh. That place, belongs to The Lord Jesus Christ. The true Son of God, made manifest in the flesh. So comes the death of the firstborn of Egypt. and the first Passover. Our Lord Jesus is the Passover Lamb.

 

Exodus 10:1; Now the LORD said to Moses, "One more plague I will bring on Pharaoh and on Egypt; after that he will let you go from here. When he lets you go, he will surely drive you out from here completely. 2 "Speak now in the hearing of the people that each man ask from his neighbor and each woman from her neighbor for articles of silver and articles of gold." 3 The LORD gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Furthermore, the man Moses himself was greatly esteemed in the land of Egypt, both in the sight of Pharaoh's servants and in the sight of the people.

 

Exodus 11:4; Moses said, "Thus says the LORD, `About midnight I am going out into the midst of Egypt, 5 and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of the Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the slave girl who is behind the millstones; all the firstborn of the cattle as well. 6 `Moreover, there shall be a great cry in all the land of Egypt, such as there has not been before and such as shall never be again. 7 `But against any of the sons of Israel a dog will not even bark, whether against man or beast, that you may understand how the LORD makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.'8

 

 Urgency To Send Israel Out Of The Land Exodus 12:33.

Exodus 12:33; The Egyptians urged the people, to send them out of the land in haste, for they said, "We will all be dead." 34 So the people took their dough before it was leavened, with their kneading bowls bound up in the clothes on their shoulders.

35 Now the sons of Israel had done according to the word of Moses, for they had requested from the Egyptians articles of silver and articles of gold, and clothing; 36 and the LORD had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have their request. Thus they plundered the Egyptians.

Lets take a look at Genesis 45:1-28. Don't you love it. God makes His point more than once. I think He does that  just to say. No! this is not a coincidence, Here , again. The Spiritual Goshen. Again, in Egypt ( The world) When Joseph reveals himself to his brothers, they were needless to say terrified! speechless! He tells them, God sent him before them to keep them alive by a great deliverance.( Can you see , the picture of Jesus , here?) And how God had made him ( Joseph) a father to Pharaoh, lord of his household, and ruler over Egypt? Ruler over all Egypt? Sound familiar? Who has authority in heaven and earth? Who has "The Name" above every Name? Who gave us His authority? Woo Hoo! JESUS! In vs 9, he says, God has made me lord of all Egypt! In vs 1o Joseph says. You will live in Goshen! and you shall be near me. You and your children's children, and your flocks, herds, and all you have. There, I will also provide for you. ( remember the name Goshen means drawing near. ) The name Joseph, means, "Jehovah has added"

 

Oh my! Does this sound like favor, or what? In vs 16. Pharaoh says, I will give you the best of the land of Egypt. You will eat the fat of the land. He literally sent transportation, to go pick up all of Josephs family, and says. Don't worry about your goods, for the best of all of the land of Egypt is yours, Woo Hoo! The best! He gave them provisions for the trip. Clothing, money. And he makes a really interesting comment in verse 24. He says don't quarrel along the way. The first thing that came to mind, is the Church of today, and how God wants us to love one another, and. to be in unity. not to have divisions. And that when were walking in our obedience, and fulfilling our purpose.. He will provide everything,, for our journey on this earth. ( Muse on Isaiah1:19- If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the best of the land)

Genesis 46:28 Israel had sent Judah ( praise) ahead to Joseph, so that he might meet him in Goshen ( drawing near) Praise your way, into your Goshen. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.

In Genesis 47. My my, the famine was severe in Canaan. But in verse 6 , Pharaoh says to Joseph, now that your father and brothers have come to you. The land of Egypt is at your disposal; settle your father and brothers the pick of the land.

They were provided for . They had the best, even though there was famine in the land! Muse again on verse 28. Israel had sent Judah ( praise) ahead to Joseph , so that he might meet him in Goshen. Praise your way in. Draw near to Him, and even though there is famine in the land. You will be in Goshen, where everything is taken care of. I believe that is about to take place.

Ge 47:27 Now Israel lived in the land of Goshen, and they acquired property in it and were fruitful and numerous. In Ge 47:20 ; Joseph had acquired all the land for Pharaoh,, and the people were reduced to slavery. Only the priests lands he did not take over, and the priests had a fixed allowance from Pharaoh, and they did not have to sell their lands. Who are the kings and priests? We are! Rev1:6; and He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. 7.

I would like to close with this. I believe we are entering this kairos time in history. A time like that time in Egypt. Where The Lord will judge the gods of this world. And He is beginning to differentiate between the world, and the Kingdom of heaven , and His children.

We are about to live in Goshen. Know matter what goes on around us. The Lord will draw near to us, and provide for us, and protect us, in the land of Goshen . Lord Jesus, help us to have that peace that surpasses all understanding, and to know You take care of Your own, who are covered in the blood, of our Passover Lamb
